Peer Review Policy

All submitted papers are peer-reviewed. Manuscripts are pre-reviewed by an editor and then reviewed by at least two external experts. Papers submitted to KJAB take an average of 2 weeks to receive a first decision. The editor has the authority and responsibility to make the final decision on acceptance or rejection of a manuscript.

Peer review process

1) Submission

All manuscripts should be submitted via the electronic submission system provided by https://e-kjsb.org. In case of difficulty in submitting the manuscript through the electronic submission system, the corresponding author may contact kjsb2023@naver.com for guidance on manuscript submission.

2) Peer Review Process

KJAB reviews all submitted manuscripts. Submitted manuscripts are first reviewed by the editors for compliance with the journal's official format and the journal's purpose and scope. If the manuscript meets these criteria, it is then checked for plagiarism or duplicate publication through a similarity check. Once pre-reviewed, the manuscript is referred to at least two experts in the field.
During the review process, reviewers may ask authors to review raw data and statistics.
Authors' names and affiliations are removed during peer review (double-blind review), and articles are accepted based on the quality and originality of the research, scientific significance, and impact, which are critiqued, evaluated, and recommended by the reviewers, and finally decided by the editors.

Initial decisions are usually made within 4 weeks of receipt of the manuscript, and the reviewer’s comments and editor’s decisions are sent to the corresponding author via email and displayed in the online submission system.
The corresponding author must submit a response to the reviewer's comments with a revised file within 4 weeks. If additional revision time is required, authors should contact kjsb2023@naver.com. The final decision on acceptance/rejection for publication will be communicated to the corresponding author by the editor.

3) Peer review process by editors, editorial board members, and reviewers

KJAB operates a rigorous and transparent peer review process that aims to maximize the quality of articles, and peer reviews are conducted by researchers and scholars in the field of the submitted article.

Peer review is a double-blind evaluation involving at least two independent reviewers, followed by a final acceptance/rejection decision by the Editor-in-Chief or another academic editor approved by the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the academic quality of the publication process, including acceptance decisions, approval of guest editors and special issue topics, and appointment of new editorial board members.

From submission to final decision or publication, one dedicated editorial staff member coordinates the review process and serves as the primary point of contact for authors, academic editors, and reviewers.

Pre-check

i. Suitability of the submitted article for the journal
ii. Assessment of the quality and ethical standards of the research
iii. Assessing the manuscript's eligibility for peer review
The journal's editor-in-chief is responsible for these initial preliminary checks

Peer review

This process is double-blind for most articles (original and review articles).

Submission to decision

Pre-check: A preliminary review is performed by an editor, who decides whether the article should enter the peer-review stage.
Peer-review: Reviewed and commented on by at least two reviewers.
Editor decision: Based on the reviewers' comments, an initial or final decision (revision, acceptance, or rejection) is communicated to the corresponding author.

After acceptance

Copy editing: Review of the manuscript by the editorial office and the corresponding author(s) (including co-authors)
English editing: Proofreading of the manuscript by a professional proofreader contracted by the journal
Proof-reading: Final review of the manuscript by the editorial office, the publisher, and the author before publication and conversion into a final PDF
Copyright transfer: After the submitted manuscript is accepted for publication, the copyright of the published article remains with the author and the Korean Society of Sport Biomechanics. In case of publication, the corresponding author must obtain the consent of the co-authors, sign the copyright transfer agreement form, and submit it to the editorial board.
Online first: pdf file is published after being posted on the KJAB site.
Exclusion of reviewers or suggestion of reviewers by manuscript submitters During the initial submission process, authors may recommend or request exclusion of reviewers (however, the editors and editorial board do not accept all suggestions from contributors). Reviewer suggestions will be considered if they are free of potential conflicts of interest and there is a valid reason for the suggestion, while reviewer exclusions will be considered if there is a risk that the authors' differing academic perspectives may interfere with the objective evaluation of the manuscript. For initial submissions, authors should include clear reasons for exclusion or recommendation of reviewers.
